SO entry screen

We just did the SAGE 2021 update and something all of our people are finding an issue with is  In SO entry screen under the lines tab we used to be able to have the columns in the order we wanted and have what we wanted to see and it would remember it every time we went into the module. Currently the comment column is hidden and when we expand it it will not stay that way and we have to expand it every time.  Is there a reason it no longer keep our customization?

this is what we change it to

and this is what shows the next time we open it, or the next SO we try to enter.  In our old version of SAGE it remembered our screen.

  • Try resetting the panel and if necessary, reset grid preferences (you may want to take screenshots or record current grid column order first though).  This is on a user by user basis.

  • I wonder if this is a Windows folder permissions issue.  Depending on if you are Standard or Advanced, in the past, the customization per user was saved to a folder (on the server or workstation, per version).  If the user doesn't have permissions to create or edit files on the folder, it may not save them.

The KB does have an article about it.  If David's suggestion doesn't work, it also recommends this:

If that does not work. Rename the "Sage 100" folder found in "C:\Users\<Windows logon>\Documents" on the workstation.

Note: The "Sage 100" folder also stores the workstation user's Favorites. So renaming the "Sage 100" folder would result in loss of Favorite shortcuts to tasks such as data entry or report printing.

I don't think grid definitions are stored in those .json files under the user's documents\sage 100 folder.  Pretty sure they are still being stored in SY_GridDefinition.

Yes... in SY_GridDefinition, and if the user is in a VDI environment with a constantly changing workstation name, the entries will never be saved between sessions, since WorkstationName is part of the key.

, now that you are on 2021, if you are in a VDI environment as Kevin mentioned, you could use Custom Office's Customizer to set defaults for the grid that could be applied to everyone.  You can specify column order, width, location (main or additional grid), and visibility.

Should I do this on the header tab or the lines tab where I want it to keep my columns and column widths, or does it not matter which tab I am on?

  • in reply to Karen Stehman

It doesn't matter.  Resetting all grids will reset the grid customizations for your workstation and user for that particular task.  Resetting the panel size and position also resets for your user for that particular task but it really just resets the last saved size and position.  I suspect the grids is what you need to reset but if you are in a VDI environment, this won't likely won't help much besides restoring to the default grid settings.

I should add that the reset only occurs for that particular task you perform the reset from.
