CAUTION: Picking Sheet Printing SELECT and CLEAR BUTTONS Don't Work Like Sales Order Printing

PSP = Picking Sheets Printing
PPS = Print Picking Sheet
SOH = "SO_SalesOrderHeader" table
SOP = "SO_SalesOrderPrint" table

The PSP program's "Select" and "Clear" buttons in the PSP program affects both the PPS "Y|N" field in the SOH and the adding or removing records to or from the SOP with the "PrintType" field set to "4" (which means PPS).

Two things happen whenever the PPS check-box is set by a default, by using the PSP program's "Select" button or by manually checking it in Sales Order Entry:

  • The PPS Y|N field is set to "Y"
  • A SOP record (with PrintType="4") is added to the Sales Order Print (SOP) table.

The PSP program's "Clear" button, always clears any SOP "PrintType=4" records, but only clears PPS Checkboxes for sales orders that were previously selected by the PSP program's "Select" button.

So the challenges are:

  1. Why doesn’t the "Clear" button always clear a sales order's PPS checkbox instead of only after the “Select" button is used on it first? Isn’t this misleading? It was for me.
  2. Why does the "Clear" button work differently in PSP than in Sales Order Printing?

    I forgot to mention that this works the same in Sage 100 Std, Adv and Premium including the versions I've tested 2019-2021.

    Seems like inconsistent behavior because the Sales Order Printing program's Clear does not clear the Print Order checkbox of an order that was Select'ed and then Clear'ed.  I'm on the fence as to which one should be the correct behavior because on one hand, it could be useful to clear the checkbox at the order level in bulk by using the criteria in the selection grid, the question though is would you want to just be able to hit Clear or would that be considered too dangerous without first hitting the Select button, possibly after specifying some criteria to make sure that it is cleared from the intended orders.  On the other hand, it could be a bad idea to clear that check box from the printing task, especially if the document was never even printed, lets say because someone mistakenly Select'ed all orders.

    Sales Order Printing works the way I would think they they both should. At least there should be something in the help files to mention, or better, explain why only Picking Sheet Printing allows the bulk changing of the SOH PPS field checkbox.

    I would be interested to know if either of you know if the difference in how these two print program buttons work is intentional and what the idea is between those differences. Thank you!
