Yes, you can import new items using V/I.  The table you need is CI_Item.  You can also import items to delete, renumber, or merge using V/I.  Try it in a test company first.

Bonus Answer:  if the description is longer than 30 characters just import into normal description field and the framework will take care of writing out to the extended description table for you.

Imports will either add or update, depending on whether the key field value (ItemCode) exists in the destination table.  VI follows business object rules so when adding watch for required fields (ProductLine...).

That is what I expanded my ScriptBasic ODBC field size to a while back. (was 256) I haven't had an issue with 100 data since.
