Prevent Future Postings?

I am aware of the company preference to prevent access to an accounting date beyond 1 future period.  Is it possible to prevent postings to future periods?

  • I don't think this is possible. Just had this come up where someone posted something to 10/19/2022 because on 10/20/2021, they meant to change the posting date back to 10/19/2021.

All I see are the following in company maintenance:

    • Restrict Accounting Date to Current and One Future Period --> this doesn't seem to prevent changing the posting date. It only prevents changing the accounting date when you first enter a module.
    • Use Document Warning Date - this appears to only pop up a warning on the document date, such as an invoice date.

I checked the Sage Ideas site and cannot see this as a suggestion already made.

All I know of is this warning text... and if you don't close periods in a timely manner it quickly becomes meaningless.

There's no way to close out the GL for the month exactly on the last day of every month without having some items to post to the prior month a few days into the next month.

So this warning is essentially meaningless.
