Encryption key is invalid

Posted By FormerMember

I tried to enable Paperless and now get the following dialog whenever I try to print anything. I wasn't able to get pass the first step in setting up Paperless. All checkboxes are unchecked and I still can't get by this error. Any ideas?

  • Did you copy company data from one install to another (without doing a migration)?  Modern versions include an encryption key as part of the system files (to protect PII in that system's company data).

See KB 87143 for more ideas.

Everything was working fine until I attempted to enable Paperless. I started getting this ever since. The only change I made in the last month or two was upgrade to a 100c NFR.

I'm using ABC data that was installed with a fresh 2020 Standard install. I noticed that Paperless isn't in the company module list. Makes me wonder if the 100c license didn't include Paperless when I changed the license info.

I'm going to uninstall 100 and reinstall it using the 100c license info and see it that solves the problem. That will validate if the new license contains Paperless.

I reinstalled 100 with the new 100c license and everything seems to be working again. Paperless is a menu option but I'm not going to mess with it again.

It's possible that one of the companies skipped the CC vault build which happens as one of the first steps. Since this was a test migration I didn't give it much thought.

Why would trying to get Paperless working using the ABC company trash further printing and some maintenance options?
