Error 12 pr_efiling.pvc 0173

Error 12 pr_efiling.pvc 0173 when running efiling reports.

Scenario:  Sage 100 2013.8 Advanced, running as an application - after having successfully run the 940 & 941 for several company codes on Monday, the user today, in another company, went to run reports.  She reported that upon launching eFiling, she was prompted to update Aatrix.  Afterwards, she successfully ran the 941, but when she then chose the 940, first saw the error screen File XXXXXXX not found.  Error details in the attached screenshot.  Now, she can't run any report in any company.  I RDP'd to their T/S and get the same results she does.

Don't find KB article with this line of code.

Ok, I got it to work.  I went to their MAS server (logged in as the domain admin) and installed efiling (it had not been installed previously).  Forms got updated.  Reports ran.  Went back to the T/S.  When I launched eFiling, I got prompted to update forms.  I did NOT update.  Reports ran.  I then updated forms and it still works.

I can't figure out if it's permissions-related or something else.  And I'm not sure this won't happen again down the road.  Any input, Sage?

    Hi Barbara,

It's a bit difficult without seeing it as it was happening, but based on your description of the issue and when it started working, it's sounding like the installation didn't go through properly the first time. Generally speaking it's due to permissions, but sometimes it can be a bit more obscure such as a backup or Antivirus scanning files while trying to upgrade it. I've seen something similar when eFiling was installed on a 2008 terminal server where it didn't work until it was installed via Terminal Install mode in Windows. Sometimes it can be due to the user not having permissions to create the necessary temp files. If it's related to the temp files, KB article 51781 may provide a useful solution for you.

When installing efiling and reporting, it must be done with full admin rights.  This link will give you more information on what rights are required and what folders needs full permissions.

Hi Robert.  I found that KB article, but this client is running MAS as an app, not service.

Regarding the Techinfo from Aatrix, I am now asking another client's IT to use this to see if it resolves a different error:  "The installation can not be  launched by itself".  There is a Sage KB on this error, also, but doesn't describe the way I am trying to install (downloaded the installer from Aatrix/Sagemas.

    Barbara,

The install located on the Aatrix.com/sagemas site is for quarterly form updates, it is not a full version installation of eFiling and Reporting program for Sage 100 ERP.

To install eFiling please do the following:

    1. Browse to the ...\MAS90\wksetup folder and Right click on the Autorun.exe file and select to Run as Administator
    2. Choose to Install State and Federal eFiling and Reporting
    3. Proceed through wizard

Gina, thanks for letting me know that the Aatrix download is for updates only - I think I forgot that.  I think I tried that because I couldn't access the server from the user's login to get to the WKSETUP folder.  I'll get IT involved.  This applies to the 2nd client I referenced in this thread.

Based on my experience installing Aatrix a number of times this year, it seems to me that installing Aatrix is more involved now than I remember it in past years.  That opinion is borne out in the comments above and the document referenced by LongN above.  The firewall, browser and Windows permissions are quite a big deal.

    @Barbara

    You are welcome :)

For the most part the Windows permissions and firewall settings that are required by Aatrix are the same. What I have found is that customers networks are more secured then in the past, which is causing the communication issues. But are easily resolved by following their settings recommendations, which can be found on Aatrix Technical Information pages http://aatrix.com/updateshome and http://aatrix.com/updateshome/techinfo

Variation on a theme here, perhaps, but I'm seeing something very similar.

Trying to run the Quarterly 941 report, getting Error 12 PR_eFiling.pvc at Line 0205. KB 51781 gives us a jumping off point, but here's the kicker - the path we get with ? tmpfile$ is:
    C:\Users\ADMINI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\2\tmpAuf.tmp
    or %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\2\tmpAuf.tmp if you prefer.

This is an Advanced 2016 system, running as an Application under the Administrator account.

As a workaround we created that folder named "2", and it worked, but we don't have a high degree of confidence that this is any kind of a fix moving forward.

    Thoughts? Questions?

We see this issue with having to have a 2 folder in the temp folder a lot on our SQL server (not Sage Related).

I haven't figure out what is deleting the 2 folder
