Need help on Migrating Sage ERP MAS 200 v.4.50.4.0 to SAGE 100 from one server to another server

I have an old server where the MAS200 is currently installed and I wanted to migrate it to my new server but at the same time migrate the MAS200 to SAGE100.

Is this possible?

  • It might be, but recently I tried to do something like that with a MAS90 4.50.5 system and I couldn't apply PU 8 on the new server so I had to go back to the old server and do some finagling.

If coming from 4.5 you should upgrade to 2017 before an attempt at a current version.

  • If you have a current license with Sage the answer is yes, but you'll want to involve your Sage Partner / reseller for some detailed / hands-on assistance.  Upgrading Sage / MAS is not really a DIY type activity, especially from such an old version.

(Our in-house checklist has over a hundred points, many of which are not in Sage documentation... things we've learned as "best practices" over the years).

As mentioned by rclowe and JohnS, there is a technical limitation on upgrades from older versions, meaning you have to be on at least v4.5.8 for a one step upgrade... otherwise you have to do an extra migration / data conversion in the middle of the process.  Again, your Sage Partner will know all about this and can guide you in the upgrade process.

  • Your main issue is that you cannot go from v4.50.4.0 straight to what you want. You have to install PU 8, if you can find it or go to the next higher version from 4.50 and then you can jump to current version of Sage 100.  Finding the software you need to make this work is the hard part.

  • Thank you all for the guidelines. I probably would try to install the product update 8 first and see it from there. I was hoping to do away with involving our reseller/Sage Partner as our contract with them is done. BTW, I have a current license with Sage and I was able to get the PU 8 installer from support.

Since I plan to do it on a different server, paraller migration wont do any harm to the old server, will it? - that I can revert back to my old server, in case...

When nobody is in your source system, take a folder copy of MAS90, put the copy in a temp location on your new server, and migrate from that as the source data.  Migrating from a copy gives no chance of affecting your old system.

I highly recommend involving someone with experience doing Sage 100 upgrades.  Seriously.  That will save you a huge amount of your time.  Be especially wary if you have any enhancements.
