In Bill of Materials under Change Control you can change out items but how did you change the raw material item?

I changed it in item maintenance.  We're a manufacturer, and we use different widths of slit coil to make our parts.  One specific slit width and make hundreds of different parts, each consuming a different weight of material.  I needed to change the main item, which I did.  Now I'm hoping I won't have to open each BOM and manually change it.  

what did you change in item maintenance?  what fields did you change? 

The 'Item Number' and changed the description.

Sorry, 'Item Code'.

If it is a new item code then go into Change Control and indicate which item it is replacing and the new item number. Process and it will go through and change the parts in all bills.
