International Consultant?

Hello - I have a client whose virtual assistant (VA) is located in London.  He is requesting, strongly, that I download WhatsApp to communicate with the VA to train her how to enter slips using iSlips.  Not being much of a social media participant and having no Facebook account I am reluctant to use this method.  Also the WhatsApp reviews do not bode well regarding security, primarily for my Contacts lists.

Does anyone on this board know of a London/UK based consultant or skilled user who could train her on the data entry?  Or does anyone have other options?  He refuses to dictate.  One option I'm considering is exporting from Word to Excel then importing to TS.  I'd rather she just use iSlips but I will concede to an import/export function if necessary.

Thanks all.

Mary

  • I use What's App. I don't share my general contacts list with it, just add specific people information. Never had a concern. We used it for our group communication when we went to Israel and my bridge group uses it. Many of them use it to communicate with family in India.

Thanks for your reply Caren.  You have time for bridge?  I'm stunned!  ;-)

  • , why What's App?  I mean you 'could' use it, but what is the perceived advantage? Is the VA using the desktop iSlips or the one on a phone?

Seems to me, you could just use a Zoom call.

Well, *there's* a question.  I assumed [ahem] Zoom would mean international calling rates to apply.  The perceived advantage is free international calling.  Thanks for the reply and any further info.

Probably the desktop iSlips as typing is easier.

Ah, I think you have it.

I think Skype to Skype is still free anywhere in the world, but then you are loading Skype vs What's App.  And What's App's security is better IIRC.

Actually I DuckDuck'd Zoom and it says they do global.  "

Yes, Zoom works globally.  You can start or join a meeting from any international location using PC, Mac, & Linux , Android & iOS , H.323/SIP devices or telephone dial-in. "

Hmm, that does not actually state that international calling fees won't apply.  It's not totally clear.

Back in those old days, it seems we had someone at conferences who was based in the UK.  I could be wrong though.  No one has stepped up to that plate - yet - unfortunately.

    Thanks ND.
