Important Information - email - Timeslips 2020 end of support?

SUGGESTED

Received emails on or around July 2, 2019 stating that future changes to Sage timeslips are coming on Aug 1, 2019; Oct 1, 2019 and then in Sept of 2020 last day of support

Basically stating that desktop / server software will no longer be issued and that subscription based "Premium" will be only platform.

I just renewed Timeslips 2020 with what I was told is a division called - Sage Accountants Network

I was also informed that this will NOT happen for this division.

Is this true

I suspect that many will have a similar question and have posted a blog post on my website about this here: http://www.duhon.biz/sage-timeslips-moving-to-subscription-only-pricing/

Below is my current understanding of the policy. If I get something wrong, I'm sure someone will jump to correct me. :-)

ALL versions of Sage Timeslips are "desktop/server software." There is NO cloud version at this time.

Subscription and Timeslips Premium are synonymous.  Under that licensing, you pay every year and get all updates, releases and some level of support.  But your on premise server will periodically reach out and confirm that subscription status with Sage.  If the reply is that you have allowed your subscription to lapse, then your data will become read only until you resubscribe.

Perpetual and Timeslips v2020 are synonymous.  Under that licensing, you pay once for the software license and run it as long as you are able to make it work on your hardware.  You can optionally contract for Sage Business Care for support and new releases as long as the product is officially supported. After that, you will be left with third party support only such as your IT folks and Certified Consultants.

You are correct that Sage internal sales staff are supposed to stop selling Perpetual/Timeslips v2020 licenses and offer Subscription/Sage Premium as the only option to folks who contact them starting August 1, 2019.

As per the notice "Sage Timeslips license-only will be available for purchase through channel and retail sales until September 30, 2020." So, Certified Consultants and presumably Sage Accountants Network members who are resellers will continue to be able to offer both types of licenses to their customers until September 30th of next year.

If you just renewed, then you are likely in good shape for at least another year. But contact your seller/SAN if you have questions.

There will not be a Perpetual/Sage Timeslips v2021, or v2022, or v2023, etc. After September 30, 2020 there will ONLY be Sage Timeslips Premium - a subscription only product.

The support part is still a bit murky for me. Lately policy has been that they support a version for two years.  You still have to have a Business Care Plan for them to talk to you. Not sure what this means for v2019 users who have a support plan.  Appears that new customers who just purchased like yourself will get slightly more than one year of support, while anyone buying after October 1 of this year will get LESS than ONE year of support. Yikes!
