If you can round 20 minutes to .3333 or .33 why can't we round to .3? That is the requirement for all our clients

SOLVED

Need to be able to convert attorney time from e-center stopwatch to billing program in hours.tenths (20 minutes converts to .3) not .33 or 3333

I am a little confused as 20 minutes should convert to .4, as 18 minutes would be the highest quantity of time that would round up to .3.

At 18 minutes + 1 second, you are over .3 and should round up to .4.

Timeslips always records the time at actual expenditure, you can set clients to round to the closest 6 minute (.1) increment when it bills out.

    Hope that helps.

You only have two choices with rounding two decimal places or four.  I need ONE decimal place.  Already talked to support and they said it was not designed for this, WHY NOT?

As long as you check the option right above it to round to the closest 6 minutes, that second option really doesn't matter because on the actual bill, it will say .4.

Are you saying that your bills are displaying more than one decimal place for 20 minute slips?

Yes.  I have used round to the closest 6 minutes, but right under that is a drop down box that you have to select "20 minutes converts to 0.33 or 0.3333"   So when the attorneys are using the stopwatch it converts it to 2 decimal places.  I have chatted and called support and came to the same conclusion nothing will change it so that's why I have posted this - THEY NEED TO CHANGE IT.

There is an option to set minimum time and auto increment. If you set that to 6 minutes, then it will automatically round to 6 minutes (1 decimal place) when you generate the bill.

I think you are misunderstanding what that setting is for.  The rounding setting (for 6 minute increments) is what controls how many decimal places show on the bill.

The setting you are talking about has to do with how Timeslips would calculate the value of a 20 minute slip.

When slips are created, Timeslips stores them with their actual time spent showing, but when it produces the bill for that client THAT is when it does the rounding.  Note that you will not see the rounding effect on the slips until AFTER the bill has been run.

THANK YOU!!! Support never told me that.  I assumed that the time as shown in the slip listing is how it would appear on the invoice.  I have tested it and it does round to the nearest tenth.
