I have used Sage 50 for quite a long time (when it was Peachtree) and have never had issues like I am having this year. We have the 2018 version installed in our lab and the students also have the option of downloading it on their computer. In many cases, the program stops responding and does not allow the student to complete the project. This occurs whether they are in the lab or on their own computer. So far, I have not experienced this on my own computer. The only difference is that I am still using Windows 7 while the lab and students typically are using Windows 10. Any help is greatly appreciated.

We'll need a few more details in order to provide some possible solutions. Which tasks or functions are the students performing when the machines go into a "Not Responding" state? Are there any other errors that are encountered?
