  • This update is very flawed.  I installed the current HOTFIX but now no one can run an earning and hours report.  Are there any current fixes to this?  Thanks for any help.

  • in reply to MelanieL

Which update and hotfix did you install? I do not recall seeing a hotfix for Q2.

Without knowing any other details I would say the steps below. Please make sure that you arr not launching the HRMS client from an Icon in the task bar (bar at the bottom of your screen), I have had these be the problem before and I do not suggest using them.

Sometimes you can give the system a little nudge by following the steps below.

    • Go to Setup > System > Modify Employer (if you have more than 1 employer select 1 at a time)
    • On any non grayed out field, enter a character or hit the spacebar, then hit the backspace key, this will make the appy button active
    • Click on apply, the system will then go through and start updating the views that HRMS uses for payroll
    • When its done click on ok, it will run through the same process one more time and then tell you that you need to restart HRMS.
    • Go to Start > Sage HRMS Client, right click on the client and select Run as Administrator

Same here, I received the below email Friday, well after we updated and started having problems, I have not heard of any hot fixes or updates yet and not sure why they still have the link to download available"

"Based on our review of the update as well as emergency calls we’ve received from our clients, Net at Work advises you not to apply the Sage HRMS Q2 update until a hotfix is released to correct the issues we’ve encountered.

We are working diligently with Sage on a resolution and want to test this prior to updating everyone. You should only update now if there is a legislative change within the update that you require.

We highly advise working with the Net at Work team to apply the update if this is the case.

Hi Joe!  Thank you for answering so quickly.  I will try your suggestions.  This is the hotfix I had to apply.  I underlined the specific issue I was having after I installed the update.  This hotfix was not as simple to apply either.  I could not rename the file as it was in "use".  I ended up creating a whole new payroll folder and adding in the necessary files/programs one by one.

Hi Melanie, I worked with a customer to upgrade HRMS to the Q2 and we received an error 1306 stating that it needed exclusive access to a bcalss.VCX file. We ended up uninstalling the client, then reinstalled using the option to Run As Administrator and have not had a problem since.

Are you talking about the payroll folder located at SageHRMSServer > Payroll? That is a pretty sensitive area to be deleting and re-adding things. That folder also holds custom reports for payroll, did you replace all of the .DLL files  to the UP73A and then replace the .DLL and reports to the ENG folder within the UP73A foilder?

Are you having the same issue on the server as the clients?

  • in reply to Joe Reska

Hi Joe.  I always trying unstalling and running as an Admin first before anything.  I am REALLY comfortable with the file structure of HRMS so I did not delete any custom reports.  I'm talking about the SageHRMSServer>Client>Payroll file, as is mentioned in the HOTFIX.  Slight smile  The one that contains the install files for payroll.

  • in reply to MelanieL

Oh and yes, same problem on server, and with master and non master users.  We can run check registers and other reports, but as soon as we run an earnings and hours report is shuts down the program.  Sigh....it will probably be a uninstall reinstall server situation, and I really would like to avoid that.

  • in reply to MelanieL

yup, exactly what's happening to us, when she tries to run some reports the client crashes.

Then I am not going to mess with anything just now and waste my time...hoping Sage figures it out soon enough.
