There are several things that could cause this. Try the steps below and post the results if this does not resolve the problem. Also, any more information you can provide as to what happens exactly would help.
- My initial thought is a problem with the Excel add-in for X3. It could be the user does not have the rights for it to install properly. Log the user off, give the account admin rights temporarily, log the account back in and try again. Ensure the Excel add-in is loaded. You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the add-in but ensure the user has admin rights while doing this.
- Clear all browser history.
- Try a different browser to run the client.
- Try logging into Windows with a different user account.
- Disable User Account Control on the workstation.
- Give the user local admin rights.

We had to edit the registry to fix this. I have the file that can be imported into the registry if anyone needs it. But the moral of the story is, do not install Office 2016 on a machine running X3 v7.

Try manually export add-in Excel\Word\ registry in local machine, and reimport it in Current User.

Export: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\


Import in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\Sage.Syracuse.WordAddIn
