Sage X3 Installation Rationalization.

SOLVED

Hi,

I am looking from advices on your X3 experience.

I have inherited from an IT system mainly based on Sage X3.
The company is multi-sites / countries but the X3 deployment is not transversal.

I was expecting one central X3 installation configured with all sites with intra sales, invoicing, shipping etc.

But the situation is different, there is one single X3 installation for each geographical site (with different version and database solution).
As a consequence jobs for data synchronization have been implemented (product, customers, sales, ...).
There is no specific reason due to local response time or network bandwith/stability.

We are a single group so my actual idea is to :
- Define the X3 version and database model
- Setup a dedicated line for sites access (either citrix, web or RDP)
- Migrate all the sites into a single instance

Does this seems reasonable ?
Did you experience also any cloud hosted solution for X3 ?

I am wondering about test enviroment simplicity and remove local hosting.

Thank you

Hi and welcome to Sage ERP X3!

I am going to guess that you are running a version prior to v6, in which is was necessary to have multiple installations for different legislation/country requirements.

In Sage ERP X3 v7 (or v6) it is possible for you to have a single installation in a central location that allows you to manage business rules by local legislation.  X3 can also be accessed from a web browser, so you would only need an IP address accessible by all locations - no RDP or Citrix setup required.

There are a number of options for test environments - using virtualization is probably the simplest.

Since Sage ERP X3 is also web-based you can have your solution hosted by any number of hosting companies.

I would recommend you contact your partner or Sage account manager to discuss upgrading to the latest version.  It would allow you to combine all the sites and let them keep some of their local requirements.
