1 minute read time.

Interested in learning how to be able to create a sales order and sales delivery when a product is not in stock? You've come to the right blog to find out! Read on for more information...

GENSHT is a parameter used to define if the allocations that have failed will generate shortages for the missing quantities. A shortage quantity will be displayed demonstrating the impossibility to service a document at a given moment. This is used to establish an unavailability and to later process these shortages.

  • If GENSHT is set to No then, if an allocation fails, no shortage will be generated.
  • If GENSHT is set to Yes then, if an allocation fails, the quantity that could not be allocated will be displayed in the form of a shortage quantity.

SHTDLV is the parameter used to determine whether the delivery of quantities with shortages on a sales order line or on a delivery request can be carried out (remember this is controlled by the GENSHT parameter). Only products that authorize negative stocks are considered For all other products, irrespective of the value of this parameter, the delivery of quantities with shortages will not be authorized.

Common data, Products, Products - on the Management tab check mark the Stock < 0 Authorized checkbox. This allows SHTDLV to create the delivery for the product without stock.

So now, when a Sales order is entered for a product with zero inventory AND the Stock < 0 authorized is Checked AND the GENSHT is set to Yes. The result is allowing the Sales order to be created with a shortage. But wait we also want to show the Sales Order as Delivered..keep reading!

Next, create the Delivery and then the Sales Invoice directly from the Sales order or individually.

As you can see the GENSHT parameter plus the SHTDLV parameter work in-conjunction with the Stock < 0 Authorized setting on the product thus allowing a creation of a Sales Order, Sales Delivery and subsequent Sales Invoice when you have absolutely zero inventory in stock and these steps do not create stock transactions.
