Models in version 14.11?

SUGGESTED

I just downloaded version 14.11. In reading though the release notes, I see no mention of models....that does not sound good. Does anyone know if they have killed off models? We use them extensively.

    Arch,

Models is one of the last remaining parity items that we're working to get in to the SQL branch of Estimating.  You're correct that they're not in 14.11, but we hope to have them in the software soon.

They do have Models now, but there's a few small glitches.

Since you can install the new SQL (MSQL) on the same computer that has the old SQL (PSQL) I'd say go ahead and install it. BUT!! Only use it to 'test' things out. Keep putting Estimates together in the old version until you've tested out the new version. The reason to test is the new version works fine for some users, but others users have some issues. Everybody uses the software differently so find out for yourself what you think of it.

As far as Cut and Fill. Sage has basically walked away from that. It probably won't be in MSQL ever. BUT you can keep it installed and keep using it. There just won't be any new versions of it, and if you ever did actually use the interface, well, that won't work in MSQL.

Bottomline: I'd say install the MSQL, and thoroughly test it's Models out/etc., leave the PSQL Cut and Fill installed on your Digitizer computer and you might be fine.

Please let me know what you end up doing. Thanks

For now we are keeping estimating as Pervassive and accounting as SQL. We tried to upgrade one of our stand alone workstations to test drive the SQL and were unsucessful. So we are praying our didgitizer and software keys keep working

    Thanks for the reply
