Base Price Formula

SUGGESTED

Can someone give me the formula to add a base price to an item?

For instance: An equipment rental has it's monthly rental fees, but I would like to add the delivery fee to the item as well.

Thanks

Formulas are generally for takeoff qtys. To add costs like a delivery fee it might work best to just create a separate item called "(equipment name) Delivery Fee" and then have that drop off fee entered as either the "other" or "equipment" cost category.  To automatically add the delivery fee item you could set up an assembly. (this assembly could also take off other equipment items, such as fuel, Diesel pollution fee, etc.).

    twse,

Thanks for the info. I knew about Assemblies, but I was hoping for a not so complicated answer haha

It seems silly and inconvenient to have to add a separate delivery charge Item for everything that gets delivered to a jobsite. My database would probably consist of at least 15% of delivery charge Items if I did that. You would think Sage has an easier way to deal with this problem.

    Thanks again!

We usually use 'other' for delivery charge. If our forklift rental is 1200 a month and its 100 for delivery the 1200 goes in the equipment line item and its based on however many months you have it on the project. the delivery fee is hard keyed in. We also have some items that have a production rate of 1/12 for the 'other' delivery charge so the $100 was recouped on 12 month projects and made money on longer projects. A good example is temp toilets if we had one temp toilet for one month we would lose money. If we had one temp toilet for 12 months we break even. We normally have 3-4 temp toilets. Most of our projects 8-16 months. so we make a few extra dollars on temp toilets. On items that delivery really fluctuates like tower crane, we have a separate item for. especially when its more of a setup and delivery fee like job trailers, cranes, containers, etc. So a crane could have a monthly charge of 5k and then the line item for setup & delivery of crane would be a lump sum of $2k. Hope that helps
