Adding in a new project estimate in addition to the original estimate

SOLVED

I am attempting to add in a new buget through JobCost>Tasks>Enter Estimates. The project that I want to enter the estiamte for already has one, but we want to and in another more updated one without overwriting the old one. Idealy we would like to be able to print out a job cost report showing both the original estimate and an updated on. does anyone know how we could do this? Right now when we try to enter a new estimate we get a notification that says "Original estimate is already finalized

Once you finalize an estimate in Sage, you cannot change it. We always put our original estimates in and finalize them so we always have a record of the original. You will want to do a change order. You can use Job Cost Change Order but if you also use Project Management (PJ) and the job you need to enter the estimate in for is set to use PJ then you will need to do the change order in PJ. We use PJ so I will create a change order and then on the second tab, you can check a box that says "Internal". I also recommend numbering your internal change orders as _INT01, _INT02, etc that way if you need to do a formal CO on the job, you are not using the regular numbers 1, 2, 3, etc. It helps numbering them this way in case you have to send a CO Log to your customer that shows all change orders. If you use CO 2 for an internal change, then the report you give your customer will have CO 1, 3, 4, etc. so they may ask what is CO#2. You may need to use the Help articles and the Sage KB to figure out how to enter the information in. There are quite a few steps and scenarios that I would not be able to list here.

This is the best way to do this to allow you to track original estimates and revised estimates. On a side note, you can change original estimates that have been finalized. Administrators are able to change the setting to allow this. Instructions can be found here:
