Journal Entry

Posted By FormerMember

I am fairly new to Sage so I'm not very familiar with it's functionality yet. I see that journal entries are assigned a batch number when entered. However, when you post the JE, the report that prints does not have a transaction number on it. This seems odd as how would you file and or locate the physical document if it doesn't have an identifier on it?  I chatted with support and they couldn't help me.  Does anyone know if it's even possible to print the transaction number on the General Ledger Record Entries Journal? In addition, the account title does not print on this report either which makes reviewing very difficult. So, I'm looking to see if that can be printed as well. thanks!

Are you entering the transaction # in the Ref 1, Ref 2, or Description fields in the Record Entries screen? If so, the journal that prints after you finish the Record Entries task shows those fields - the journal is called the General Ledger Record Entries Journal.

Indeed, the General Ledger Post Entries Report (from the Post Entries task) does not show any details at all, only the batch totals.

To view the details of a batch, you can use the report called Entries by Batch (in the Reports menu, Entries category). In the Data File Selection screen, select GL Transaction (current) for posted entries, and then click Ranges to select the application and batch#s.

You can also use the inquiry called Entries by Batch to view the information. Drill down to the batch you want to see and you can add additional columns of information like the Ref 1 and Ref 2 fields, and the account title.
