SQL Replicator and Backup Files

I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on how SQL Replicator and the SQL server are going about creating the .bak files.  We are running into an issue where these are taking up a large amount of space on the server and upon deleting some of these previously it caused some issues with the Replicator.  Currently there are 5 Backup files for the SageCREGlobalConfiguration DB, one of which is the current and 2 with no file size at all (Screenshot attached).  There also appears that one of the DBs is creating a backup at what appears to be random times.  The Replicator for this DB is even turned off at the moment, so I'm also a bit perplexed as to why the backups are being created at the rate they are for this DB (Roughly 2000 backup files).  There is also an error that I have attached from the log that it appears a stored procedure is missing which might be the problem as to why the copies are stacking up.  Are the backup files needed in order for the replicator to function correctly or is there a way to turn them off?  Also, would it cause an issue if all of the older backup files were deleted and only the current ones of each left?
