941 WORKSHEET

It has been a practice within our office for quite a while for all of the payroll clerks to print off a 941 worksheet at least two days per week in order for me to determine when our tax payments are due.  Quite often we meet the $100,000 next day liability rule.  After installing Version 2012, I am unable to print a 941 worksheet.  Is this going to be changed with a service pack, or do we need to find a new method of determining our tax liabilities?  We are a large company with several different entities, processed by several different clerks.  This is a pretty big inconvenience for us unless there is another way around it.

  • Perry, we had a problem with the 941 printing accurate data after installing the 2012 version (which is awful in the GL area). I don't know if you got the message about an update, but when printing the 941 to be sure our payroll tax payments were being made on a timely basis, we were prompted with a message about an update. After updating the 941 ran perfect. I don't know if this will help, but thought I'd pass it on.

  • Thanks Tim.  I did get the message about the update but after installing it I was only able to see the actual 941 form that our accountant submits quarterly.  I am used to being able to see the 941 Worksheet.  Are you able to print out the preparation worksheet?

  • Perry:

One of the features we lost with the 2012 update is the 941 worksheet. You very well may already know the following, but if you  go to the Taxes tab and select print 941 in the payroll module this might help. Select quarter and the 941 will pop up with a Report Steps dialogue box. You can just close the dialogue box out and then another dialogue box will pop up titled Red Fields. Just click on OK and then click on the red box beside You were a semiweekly schedule depositor for any part of this quarter. Click on OK when the Report dialogue box comes up telling you that semiweekly deposits must complete the 941 schedule B. The Schedule B will come up with the payroll tax liabilities for each payroll period for the quarter.

I hope this helps, but if not, let me know and maybe we can struggle through it together.

  • Meant to tell you thank you weeks ago.  Your instruction did help me to print out the 941 report.  I miss the old way but will try and "retrain" myself.
