Database Backup Wizard slow after upgrading to BW2020

SOLVED

We perform a backup at the end of each workday, and since upgrading our computers to Windows 10 and upgrading to BW 2020, the backup wizard can load for over 20 minutes! Has anyone come across this?  How have you solved this issue?

If your backing up to a folder , BW takes a lot of time to read the contents of the backup folder. (especially across a network)  Before I backup, I move the older backup files to an "OLDER" folder under the "BACKUP" folder. and then start the wizard.

F:\SAGE BACKUPS\   <- main backing up to folder

    F:\SAGE BACKUPS\OLDER\  <- less current backups

I then use a automatic backup program to Copy the backups to a NAS and then another automatic backup later that night to copy to the cloud

    SUGGESTED

    SuzanneRoss-

There are some Knowledge Base articles (www.SageKB.com) that offer some suggestions for you if you are running into performance issues when doing backups or just performance issues in general. I am not aware of any reported issues with backups after upgrading to V2020 or Windows 10.

    The suggested articles are:

Slow backup launch or backup does not appear to launch (18617)

System backup is slow or appears to hang (50645)

How to troubleshoot slow performance (17621)

    Thanks,

We had this issue several versions back. We created a separate folder for daily backups that is empty each day. Created right next to the regular archive folder. So make sure your back up is pointed to the empty folder. Once you do this it will stay pointed there.  Then once you send your backups to a stick, copy the backup files again and paste them in the regular archive file that holds all of the backup archives.  Then when finished delete the daily back ups out of the daily folder.( not the archive folder that holds them all) I actually have a short cut on my desktop that holds the daily backups that way you can check that they got deleted when finished.  It is taking a long time because it is searching through all of your archived backups.  We have heard of people waiting 40 minutes for it to quit spinning. Hope this helps.
