Have you ever tried to launch the program or a report and nothing happens?

Have you encountered an issue where you select the Sage BusinessWorks program and a wheel spins and nothing happens?  What about launching the program and a screen pops up and then goes straight to the Windows task bar?  This behavior can occur for a number of reasons but the most frequent reason is a change with the computer display, such as a new monitor, moving from two monitors to one or changing the resolution of the monitor.  With the steps below you can resolve the issue by resetting the launcher settings.

If the program will not launch:

  1. Open Windows Start, Run and type REGEDIT
  2. Select H_Key_Current_User, Software , Sage, Sage BusinessWorks, 2.0 and delete the Launcher folder. These keys will be rewritten with the default values the next time BusinessWorks is launched. NOTE: When you launch Sage BusinessWorks, you may be in the SAMPLE company. Go to File, Select Company to select the appropriate company.

Another issue you may run into is when launching reports nothing will happen or the report will appear to load and then just disappear.  This also relates to possible changes to the display properties or it could indicate the report was accidentally moved to an area that is outside of the current view able area.  To resolve you would need to delete the Report Preview key from the registry as outlined below.

If the reports will not display on the screen

    1. Open Windows Start, Run and type REGEDIT
    2. Select H_Key_Current_User, Software , Sage, Sage BusinessWorks, 2.0 and delete the Reports Preview folder. These keys will be rewritten with the default values the next time BusinessWorks is launched.
    3. If this does not resolve the issue reports preview in the last place they were viewed. If the report was moved and the screen resolution was changed, the report could preview off the screen and not be accessible. Change the screen resolution to the prior setting and drag the report to the middle of the screen.

If the issue persists the Window may have become hidden:

  • Click on the icon in the Taskbar that represents the hidden window
  • Press the following keys on your keyboard Alt + Space, then M
  • Press and hold down the left cursor key for a few seconds. Try the up cursor key. This should move the window back to a visible position on your Windows Desktop
  • If the issue continues try press Windows + Left Cursor or Windows + Right Cursor a few times and the window should reappear on the desktop
