Sage 50—U.S. Edition: Important Information regarding Payroll Compliance

What you need to know

The upcoming Sage 50—U.S. Edition 2020.1, planned for release in November 2019, will incorporate payroll updates for compliance with the revised Form W-4 for 2020. For further information about these payroll changes, please see https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-publication-15-t.

What you can do to prepare

If you have new hires and/or employees who need to submit the revised Form W-4 for 2020, you will need to install Sage 50—U.S. Edition 2020.1 before entering new W-4 information for the 2020 tax year.

Important: You will need to convert your company data after installing Sage 50—U.S. Edition 2020.1.

  • The Sage 50—U.S. Edition 2020.1 update is now available. 

    Payroll subscribers must install this update in order to comply with the new W-4 form. For information about the payroll tax year 2020 W-4 form, click here. Please see steps below for manually downloading and installing the 2020.1 update:

    1. Select Services > Check for Updates > Check Now
    2. If multiple updates appear, select the update(s) you want to install, then select Download
    3. Once the download has been completed, exit Sage 50 and the update will begin

    Tip: If you have Sage 50 installed on more than one computer, you will need to download and install on the server first.
