Sage 500 ERP on AWS

We are using  Sage MAS 500 March 2011 Update (Version 7.30.6.0) and want to migrate it to AWS RDS.  Is that supported.  Does it work in EC2 or at all?

Thanks, Verne

First of all the version of Sage 500 you are using is an older version that is no longer supported by Sage.  Second, no version of Sage 500 that I know of has been tested and approved for AWS RDS.  There have been experiments by some in the past to set up a Sage 500 database on a virtual machine in Azure and connect to local clients with some success.  However. this configuration has not been approved by Sage as a supported configuration for the current versions of Sage 500.

As done with the Azure experiments, you could try to create a test database on AWS and see what it would take to connect to a client if you can.  If you do get it working, let us know how it goes, and if there are any potential pitfalls.  I know for the Virtual Machines on Azure, the Sage 500 database utilities had to be installed on the VM machine so the database could be created and synchronized/registered.  Not sure if you can do this in AWS RDS.

Thanks for the reply.  We will test it.  I would assume (perhaps incorrectly) that it would work in EC2 since that is pretty much like installing SQL on a local SQL Server machine.
