Processing 1099 for tax year 2019 in Sage 500 ERP

Tax season preparation is here again. To process 1099 forms for the tax year 2019 in Sage 500 ERP please keep in mind the following:

Sage 500 version 2019

If you are on Sage 500 version 2019 you will not need to install any update in order to process 1099 data for tax year 2019. Your Sage 500 version 2019 is ready to process 1099 data for tax year 2019.

Sage 500 version 2018

If you are on Sage 500 version 2018 and you had already processed the data for tax year 2018 you will not need to install any updates in order to process 1099 data for tax year 2019. This is because there were no changes in tax forms between year 2018 and 2019. However if you didn't process 1099 data for tax year 2018 or you are on a workstation where stand-alone update for tax year 2018 has not been applied you will need to download it and apply, see below 'How to install and uninstall stand alone 1099 updates for year 2018 for Sage 500' for installation instructions.

Sage 500 version 2017

If you are on Sage 500 version 2017 and you had already processed the data for tax year 2018 you will not need to install any updates in order to process 1099 data for tax year 2019. This is because there were no changes in tax forms between year 2018 and 2019. However if you didn't process 1099 data for tax year 2018 or you are on a workstation where stand-alone update for tax year 2018 has not been applied you will need to download it and apply, see below 'How to install and uninstall stand alone 1099 updates for year 2018 for Sage 500' for installation instructions.

How to install and uninstall stand alone 1099 updates for year 2018 for Sage 500

Starting in calendar year 2016, Sage 500 ERP has begun using Aatrix Software’s 1099 software for processing 1099 forms and e-filing. Aatrix processing for tax year 2018 is supported for Sage 500 versions v2016, v2017, and v2018 via product updates.

The software to support tax years 2015 and prior are being left in the system for now, but they will not be updated. This includes the report files for the various 1099 forms. They are being left in the system to provide for a limited backwards compatibility.

Minimum requirements:

  • For version 2018: Sage 500 ERP 2018 GA Release (7.90.0) or newer must be installed before the tax year 2018 stand-alone 1099 update can be installed. 1099 stand-alone updates are not cumulative.
  • For version 2017: Sage 500 ERP 2017 RTM (7.80.0) or newer must be installed before the tax year 2018 stand-alone 1099 update can be installed. 1099 stand-alone updates are not cumulative.
  • For version 2016: Sage 500 ERP 2016 with the February 2017 product update (7.70.4) or newer must be installed before the tax year 2018 stand-alone 1099 update can be installed. 1099 stand-alone updates are not cumulative.

All product updates starting with January 2019 for Sage 500 versions 2017 and 2018 will have 1099 update incorporated.

All users must log out of the Sage 500 ERP applications prior to installing the server update.

Note: Federal & State eFiling and Reporting is a workstation application and will need to be installed on each workstation that will need to access Accounts Payable 1099 tax forms.

To uninstall the software, use the Windows Control Panel Programs and Features. The entry to uninstall will be “Sage 500 ERP Tax Forms Service”.

  • Hello Manisha. The upgrade instructions to Sage 500 version 2019 are located on Sage 500 client machine at C:\Program Files (x86)\Sage Software\Sage MAS 500 Client\User Guides folder in Install.pdf file. Search for  Upgrading Existing Databases chapter.
