Balance Sheet layout generator using wrong period number.

SUGGESTED

When we generate a balance sheet using the Balance Sheet template in the layout generator, all of the period numbers are correct EXCEPT period 6. Period 6 is set at 1 for both the actuals and budget columns. I can't see any way to change that in the layout generator. Is there a fix for this?

I don't know what the actual fix is for this. I have worked around by changing it manually and then saving the template after the change has been made.

Thanks, but this seems to be a bug in the layout generator. My problem is that the Closing Balance 06 and the Prior Closing Balance 06 both use "1" as the period number, and there is no way to change that in the layout generator. Since the layout generator is used quite a bit generating different balance sheets, it is very annoying that the period field has to be changed every time it is used. Does Sage know about this problem with the Layout Generator??

Hi. I have not had to change it every time. I change it and save the template. The next time I run the report, Period 06 is correctly referencing Period 06 (you have to unhide the line or expand the row to be able to see the 1 that needs to be changed saved. Row 8?). If I were to create a brand new report, I still have to go through those same steps initially to correct, but once it is saved in the template, it runs correctly. I am afraid that the only answer I have is my personal experience with it. I do not know if there is an actual fix for it. Yes it is annoying. And I agree it is a bug. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

Thanks. It's not about the template. I know how to do that. But the next time the Balance Sheet generator is run, the same problem is there. They need to run it again as there are new accounts that are added to the report, which need to be added by the generator.

Have a look at FRS. It has row sets and column sets (like FRx) so you can have a row set for Balance Sheets (or use the default which works in any Sage 300 database 'out of the box') and use that one row set in multiple reports. If you are selecting accounts by Account Group or Account Group Category etc. then adding accounts won't require any changes. If you are selecting accounts by account number though, you only need to make the change once in the row set rather than in every report.

I'm sure you have a very nice and functional product, but I need something that will fix my problem in Intelligence. Not sure why you're trying to sell this on a supposedly Sage Intelligence centered forum, but we live in strange times, don't we?

Apologies - didn't realise it was the Intelligence forum. Still, no one else has come up with a solution in the 5 days since you posted here. Send your email address to me ([email protected]) and I will send you a free live activation code for FRS that you can give to your client. Then they won't have to worry about running a generator or anything when adding accounts. You will also get great support and immediate bug fixes. Plus I'll help you convert their existing reports to FRS. Cheers :-)

Do you have a license for the Report Designer in SI??  I realize you are looking for a layout generator solution but this is also within SI if you have a license.

There are others like FRS  that have products for statements.  They are not the only ones - just more vocal on this site.

Thanks. Yes, I do have a Report Designer license. Just a problem with the balance sheet spec in the Layout Generator.
