Hello, we need to move a set of reports created in one server to another with the same version of Sage 300 / Sage intelligence. How can this be done without re-doing the reports? Thank you.
The safest way to do it is to export the reports out of one Sage site, and then import the reports into your new site on the new server. There is a bulk importer that can help you with the import process. If you use report trees, you'll have to move the tree definition files manually from one server to the other, as those don't get moved on an export/import. Hope this helps.
Thank you Jim, it sure does.
Hello, could you please indicate which are the tree definition files that need to be moved? Thank you.
everything with a .tre extension. Your installation would have a path like c:\Program File (x86)\Sage 300. Go to both the BX6XA\Treefiles and BXDATA\SQL\Report Trees folders, find the .tre files from both and copy those to the corresponding folders in the new server.
If your second server has no custom reports (all your custom reports are on your first server) then you can copy the entire BXDATA folder and move it to your second server. This is essentially replacing all reports, folders, reporting trees, etc. to be exactly the same as the first server. However, if you have any reports or customizations on the second server that you want to keep, you need to do the exporting and importing suggested by Jim. Always good practice to rename the second server's BXDATA folder to BXDATA-OLD just to have it around. That way in case you need it back, you just have to switch the names and it will be as it was before the file switch.
