The challenge is that PrintBoss is so powerful and useful that Sage is asked less and less for implementing these types of features and so Sage will move on to more requested features.

PrintBoss can also encrypt the PDFs which would be one of the next logical requests after implementing dynamic filenames (which would be a nice feature, Sage). But we'd just suggest PrintBoss again.

I agree that you shouldn't HAVE to use PrintBoss, but it is a powerful tool that gets the job done for a  $495USD purchase + amazing tech support for $100/yr.  The $795 Enterprise version provides enhanced file naming and file management functions, among other things.  The unfortunate reality is that Sage is not particularly interested in improving Sage 300, except for adding web screens, so making good use of 3rd party products is the simplest way to add functionality.

Cost is not the issue with PB, it's having to rewrite their reports, which are customized.  I understand and appreciate what you're saying though.  I don't understand why I have no issues in most of clients, but for this one, we get the funky file name.

Same version and product updates?

You should not need to rewrite reports to use PrintBoss; just add the PB fields to the existing reports.
