Inventory item with difference version

Hi,

If we want to avoid creating an new inventory codes for each version of our product, is there a way of doing this? Or we have to create a new inventory code for each version? Thanks!

Maybe either

1. Use a lot number to represent a version number.

or

2. Use BOM where the item has only one component. Then each new version is a new BOM number.
