Performance between workstation setup and client server installation

Hi All, Is the performance of Sage 300 is faster using Workstation setup compare to client server installation? What are the advantages using workstation setup?

The full "fat" client install should be faster, as all the program files are on the local machine, rather than being fetched over the network. Especially in this day and age. One person accessing program files from their local SSD drive will always be faster than many people accessing the same program files on a server (and the Sage shared data folder) - I don't care how fast your network is. Anyway, there are pros and cons to each.

Pros for client/server ("thin" client, also referred to as workstation setup):
    - Workstation installs are much simpler. Fewer install shield questions to answer. (I.e. less typing, fewer clicks, and faster install.)

Cons for client/server ("thin" client, also referred to as workstation setup):
    - If something happens to the program files on the server, it affects everybody who uses Sage. Whereas with a full client install, if the problem is often confined to just the one workstation... not the whole organization.

Pros for full "fat" client install:
    - Faster program file loads
    - Program file problems usually contained to just the workstation
    - Less network traffic

Cons for full "fat" client install:
    - Longer install. Need to have Sage ID, Company Name, modules installed, etc., at the ready because you will be prompted for each install you do. (Simple trick is to keep a text file with all those install notes in it in the installation media folder.)

Some VARs only do workstation setup. Others only full installs. We only do full client installs because we feel the performance benefit is worth the extra time during the initial install.
