Crystal asking for odbc (rdo) login?

SOLVED

I've seen this a number of times in the past and typically eventually get it resolved but I'm never positive what I have done that fixes it.

From crystal reports,  open a previously created crystal report.   Run the report and I get a prompt for ODBC (RDO) connection information and it asks for three items SERVER NAME,  USER ID and PASSWORD (instead of the usual COMPANY ID, USER ID and PASSWORD).   The report has been placed in the menu structure and it works just fine there.  Knowledgebase seems to be down at the moment and I'm not finding a match here.  What exactly is happening here?

I resolved it this time by going directly to the server and opening crystal there.   But from my workstation,  I get the above.  I'm assuming that somehow or other I have some sort of mismatch in the ODBC driver.   Don't recall if I created the report at the server or the workstation (but I suspect it is from the server.

Now that I think about it,  I think I'm usually getting this for Sage 100 ERP Advanced.

    Hey Tom,

    1st 3 clubs out of the bag I would use are:

    1. Good old workstation setup (you've probably tried that).

    2. Make sure they're not using the C/S ODBC Driver. If they are it may need to be re-setup, if not then uncheck it and logout and back in.

    3. Set Datasource Location from Database pull-down menu.

    Turn off "use C/S odbc driver" option for the user in User Maintenance?

    I've seen this too every time I work on a system v2013 and later (when Sage stopped using SOTAMAS90).  Sometimes I'm able to enter the credentials properly (? server + MAS / SQL login), but often I just resort to setting up a new DSN where I'm working.

    It would be nice to have an official recommendation on how CR data sources are intended to work (in the post-SOTAMAS90 era).

    Workstation setup no GO.

    c/s odbc driver is not in use

    Set datasource location

    There are different copies to choose from?

    driver={MAS 90 4.0 ODBC Driver};company=ABA;directory=C:\Datapool\Sage\MAS 200\V2014\MAS90;prefix=C:\Datapool\Sage\MAS 200\V2014\MAS90\SY\, C:\Datapool\Sage\MAS 200\V2

    014\MAS90\==\;viewdll=C:\Datapool\Sage\MAS 200\V2014\MAS90\HOME;cachesize=4;dirtyreads=1;bur

    (four of above exist that are identical)

    Sage 100 SC

    Sage 100 SC_1

    (these appear to be silent connects that I had created - although there is really only one DSN

    SOTAMAS90

    SOTAMAS90_1

    SOTAMAS90_2

    SOTAMAS90_3

    Tried resetting to one of the silent connects and it seemed to work again after prompting me for and ODBC RDO password again (not sure why with a silent connect).  The data source location ended up saying SOTAMAS90 after selecting Sage 100 SC????

    So I guess my question now is why am I ending up with all these duplicated choices?   Clearly something that I don't understand anymore.

    Is it possibly that I have so many different version of Sage 100 (MAS 90) on my computer?   Being a Sage Partner I have version installed clear back to 4.3 both local and network copies.

    Hi,

    Please see the attached "not official yet" documents on resolving the ODBC(RDO) prompt. Thanks

    Thanks John!

    I think I figured out my multiple drivers as well.  In the past whenever starting a new report, I always selected create a new connection which had no lasting impact between sessions.

    I think that in more current versions of crystal, the old connections are memorized between sessions? So every time I do a new connection I create a new one in my connections.
