If you must have the inventory received on a receipt of goods, i suppose you could do a return of goods entry for the materials previously received into the wrong warehouse and then do a receipt of goods entry for the materials into the correct warehouse once the materials are physically received and inspected by the correct warehouse.

I was thinking of two transfers... one into an "in transit" warehouse, then one into the CA warehouse after re-inspection.

Certainly an option but l wasn't sure if setting up a new warehouse would be in OP's plans if one didn't already exist.

Yeah, but I think it's a better strategy than the return (especially if FIFO cost tiers are involved).

If there is a problem (something lost / damaged in the transfer) they can't really complain to the vendor, and a separate warehouse for "in transit" allows greater visibility to track the difference of what was received and what made it to CA properly.  The vendor invoice is matched to the original receipt, while the transfer has separate transactions at each stage of the move.
