Food Service manufacturer and distributor

Posted By FormerMember

My company is a broad line food distributor and we also manufacture deli products such as bologna, salami, etc. We carry about 1,500 different items. There are about 10 employees that work picking order throughout the day and night and its all done on carbon copy invoices. Our company is looking to transition from doing business with pen and paper to picking, shipping and invoicing with SAGE software.

I am trying to find a consulting company or someone who is familiar and has experience with the food service industry to help us successfully transition.

If anyone has any recommendations i would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

If you need to produce the products such as bologna and salami thought the software you might find that Sage X3 aka Sage Business Cloud Enterprise Management with the food service plug in a better fit.  They have food safety and food manufacturing ability.  Sage 100 is excellent software but I have found that in dealing with food production it is not the best fit among the Sage product line.

Manufacturing food is harder with Sage 100... production starts with the finished quantity instead of the input quantity (assuming you inventory raw materials), which is backwards to their processes for one of our customers.  They need to finish the whole batch before entering production.

Picking, shipping... you want warehouse automation.  ScanForce can help with that if you stay with Sage 100.  We are in the process of a similar project for another customer in the food industry.

What does your Sage Partner have to say on the subject?
