What's the purpose of SetDate?

SOLVED

I took the BOI class, but that seems to be intended as a high-level overview, not so much a function-by-function breakdown. I checked the documentation, but it just says "Set module date". Not exactly helpful.

So, what's the effect of setting the module date? I've played around a bit, changing it to several different values, and it doesn't seem to have any effect when I'm querying tables. Is it used more when writing data out to objects, or... what?

    Adam,

There is help in Sage 100 that explains the use of the Accounting Date in the product.  I have excerpted that help topic below.

Aside from the Object Interface training, you might want to look into some of the Sage 100 product training courses offered by Sage University to help with your BOI development.

    What is the Accounting date?

When you select a module, you are prompted to enter the accounting date. Each module has its own accounting date. The accounting date represents the date and period to which accounting transactions are posted for that module. This is synonymous with the "transaction date" or the "posting date."

The Library Master module, on the other hand, uses the computer's "run time" system date and time.

A common mistake is to misread the accounting date for a module because you may have multiple windows open. When reading the accounting date (found in the status bar of the Desktop), be sure to note the module on the status bar as well.

    Thanks,

    Kent
