Sage South Africa | Sage is committed to data protection and compliance with POPIA

At Sage South Africa, we take data protection, security and privacy seriously. In addition, Sage has always followed best practices before regulations such as the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the EU’s Global Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) were introduced. As such, we’re confident we will be ready for the POPIA when it comes into full effect on 30 June 2021.

Sage is working closely with Michalsons, a corporate law firm with deep expertise in data protection and technology law, to ensure our products, processes, and systems are fully compliant with POPIA. Ahead of the POPIA deadline, we have already developed a privacy hub containing an updated POPIA Privacy Policy, a Cookies Policy, and a PAIA Manual.

Sage is completing a gap analysis to determine which actions we still need to take. Sage is also developing an internal training POPIA programme for our colleagues and partners to ensure they understand their obligations to safeguard any personal information they handle.

Our business practices are designed to keep your employee or customer data safe and secure. However, every business in South Africa has the obligation of ensuring that its own internal systems, processes and people safeguard any personal data that the organisation manages. Michalsons has a POPIA FAQs section on its website that offers some practical advice for businesses about how they can comply.

Please get in contact if you have further questions or concerns.
