    Hi SIQ

    I think the version of Office might be a problem, we've found customers with Office365 whilst on their local machine it says Office 2016 is installed, Microsoft has updated it with some Office 2019 coding which is enough to stop the plugins working. I'm not sure how our support get around it, in some case they've managed it by doing some kind of reinstall of Office in order to confirm the '2016' code base of the product.

    In others they've had to wait until they upgraded to CRM 2019 R2 which is the first product that supports Office 2019.

    One other thing to check as well, normally when installing the plugin the server details are pre-populated. So I wonder if something is stopping the installation from seeing the details.

    One thing to check, within Internet Explorer do two things; (even if you don't use IE, the Outlook plugin does)

    1) Tools - Compatibility View Settings - Deselect the option marked 'Display Intranet sites in Compatibility View'

    2) Tools - Internet Options

    In here select 'Trusted Sites' and then adjust the slider underneath to it's lowest level. Then click on the button near the top marked 'Sites'.

    In here deselect 'Require server verification....'

    Finally in the small windows at the top put in the beginning part of the URL for CRM (Internal / External URL based on the user) e.g. http://<MyServer> or https://crm.mydomain.com

    Then click Close and OK to come out of it.

    Then try the installation again and see it that works better

    tried that but still get the same error - ive tried editing the registry and pointing the server to another server that has CRM open on port 443 and that connects fine so looks like its something on the server stopping the connection but not sure what exactly - have tried switching anti-virus / firewalls off etc but still doesnt work

    Don't change the port and tick the box. Just tick the box for HTTPS on install. (or just change the port cant' remeber the correct way round).

    Outlook :

    16.x.12345.xxxxx = 2019 base code

    16.x.1234.xxxxx = 2016 base code

    To make it work with a 2019 base code install then you need to install ANY support product (no need to activate) then install the 2019 BC prodcut one over the top. The frame work from the supported version allows it to function. (you will have to remoe the unsupported versin of first of course.

    ive got this version of outlook installed 16.0.5056.1000

    ive tried all sorts with the CRM server connection settings - so leaving the https option unticked and port 80m tried ticking https and port 80, tried ticking https and setting port to 443 but it all fails - does anyone know the exact URL the file email button tries to call?

    should i be able to navigate to this url:

    https://servername/crm/FileEmailScreen/FileEmailScreen.asp

    on the site that the plugin works for it comes up this:

    error '8000ffff'

    /crm/FileEmailScreen/FileEmailScreen.asp, line 7

    and for the site that it doesnt work it comes up with a 500 server error

  • 0 in reply to SIQ

    Yes you can open a new tab with that URL but you need the SID for the end of it.

    tried that, if it type in:

    https://servername/crm/FileEmailScreen/FileEmailScreen.asp?SID=54963503428438

    its comes up with a message XML document must have a top level element. Line: 0 - so looks like its working

    if i use http it times out
