The user named CRM when Sage CRM gets installed, can a staff member use it as a login?

SUGGESTED

HI,

I have a client that is implementing CRM and they want to know if one of the staff member can log in using the user CRM that gets created whenever you install CRM. Can anyone tell me if there are any issues with using this user. They have Sage CRM integrated with Sage 300. They will not be using Outlook with CRM.

Thank you!

    1. Bad idea from a record audit point of view. If you find a problem with a record in CRM and that user is the cause how will you know if it was the integration or the person at fault? It's probably not supported either. Just create another user account. You can have as many accounts as you like as it'll use concurrent licensing. There is no reason to use that account in the same way there is no good reason to rename the admin account to allow another user to use the account.

I agree with Vega, I certainly wouldn't use the Administration account for anything other the administrating the system. Definitely get another licence.

The Admin account also has complete access and control of CRM, this would include customization, maintenance, setup, etc, no untrained (uncertified) person should have access to this account.

I think the OP is referring to the CRM account that gets created when you install the Sage 300 integration. This is specifically for the integration and I wouldn't use it. As you have an integrated system anyway, you have concurrent licensing so you can create as many user accounts as you like. Personally I keep the Admin and CRM accounts as named because they're needed for a number of things.

Hi Vega, you are correct, I am referring to the CRM user that gets created not the Admin user. I agree with everyone on this post that the CRM user should not be used except for integration but wanted to see what my peers thought before I sold them another CRM license. Thank you everyone for taking the time to answer my question.
