No the lead mapping tab is just for opportunity fields. To map person and company you have to map using names. For example LEAD_companytest and comp_test would map the two between the lead and company. I'm talking about phone fields.

there is an area in the customization for leads, a tab named mapping where you can map a custom / existing field to an opportunity field, but the field names have to be same between lead and opportunity. hope this helps

Thanks. What I was trying to do is for example, on the lead person detais you have business phone which goes to the person business phone on conversion. This uses the link_persphon translations. What I was wondering is whether there is a way to add mobile to the lead person and have the mobile number automatically come across. I know I could do this with a tablescript but I was hoping there might be a way to do it via translations. I swear on your old blogspot site there was an article. I could of course have been dreaming but that might say something about me with dreaming about CRM!

does say

"The phone, fax and email fields are all set to map to the standard phone, fax and email fields. Only hardcoded values can be used for these fields."

Looks like a tablescript is the way forward then :)
