Notifications showing the wrong number

I have a customer using 7.2c. They've recently upgraded. As they live in the communications area of CRM the notifications were of particular use to them. It would be common for users to have upwards of 5 or 6 on the screen at once. In prior versions to 7.2 this would have made most of the screen appear to be notifications and they would be scrolling up and down all the time. Since upgrading and with the frameset removal and the new notification area, you'd think they would have been happier. This is surprisingly not the case.

Firstly the notification area isn't immediately attention grabbing so they forget to look there. I altered the style sheets so the notification number showed up in a red box rather than the standard theme colour which made things at least immediately visible. However, some users have said that the notification area sometimes doesn't show the correct number of notifications. They could have 5 or 6 in there but it might only say 1. When they expand it seems to then update properly.

Has anyone come across this before? I logged it with support but they've not had any mention of this. I can't replicate it simply because I can't create loads of notifications for lots of different users to fire at different times. It just does't work when testing.

I've not seen the notifications displaying the wrong number. I think you would need to get some screen shots of that.

As for the style guide change that is a good idea - but you should make the suggestion in the ideas hub so that our Product Management team pick it up as an enhancement suggestion.

    Hi Jeff,

I have screenshots of it but it doesn't really help. All I can see is the number changes after the user has clicked on it which is what they described. I have logged it with support but it's a strange one. I was hoping to see if anyone else had experienced this issue. I can't replicate it. I can't feasibly run a SQL trace on the server for several days either. There are no errors in the logs on the times the screenshots were taken so nothing is obvious.

I don't disbelieve the user but nobody else from the customers user base have reported the issue. The browser is a supported browser and the issue appears to be the same whether they use IE, Chrome or Firefox.

I'm not sure how the new notifications work onscreen. In the old versions, did they appear in their own frame? how do they get pushed to the front end now? Is there any way that they could configure the browser that could stop this push from the server?

    Thanks.

I am saying nothing. Nothing at all.

Funny... I had my suspicions that there wasn't a problem as the user was very cagey about the issue and each time I gave very directed questions, I didn't get an answer or I got a reply which didn't address any queries I had. Had an email today saying the rpoblem was "resolved" a while back which is strange as no-one had done anything.
