Reports vs Blocks in Dashboard

Hello,

I see that you can create a block based in a list, and show it in the Dashboard, and use SQL Conditions in the block (as a report search). I also can do a report based in the same view than the previous list, and show it in the dashboard (but only with the default search).

My question is the diferences, because i find a case, when i must do the same gadget in a dashboard, but with differents search terms, if i do with report, i must do one report by each different search. If i do it with blocks, i think that i can create only one list, and after differents blocks.

Any advise?
