Sage CRM 2023 R1: UI Improvements - Expanded ability to control styles

1 minute read time.

Since Sage CRM 2021 R1, Sage CRM's interface has undergone significant visual changes. In Sage CRM 2022 R2 this included the incorporation of a vivid green, black, and white colour palette. In Sage CRM 2023 R1, new icon sets and chart colours have been introduced along with the colour palette changes. More IDs have been added to the HTML of the screen elements to assist screen readers in navigating the pages. The style sheets have also been modified to enable users to adjust the screen size or zoom in or out to accommodate different degrees of visual impairment.

We recognise that the new User Interface may not be everyone's "cup of tea".

A customer may need or want to override the default CSS theme provided for a variety of reasons. Our new theme may not match a customer's branding or visual identity. They may want to create a consistent look and feel across all of their internal applications. And although we've made improved the accessibility and the overall user experience, the new design may not provide an optimal user experience for some of a company's users. By customizing the CSS, a partner can ensure that a customer's CRM design and layout are tailored to their users' needs.

Sage CRM 2023 R1 has made changing the logon screen easier and contains sample JS and CSS files that can be used as templates.

These are documented within the Release Notes and Admin Guide.

In the example below the login screen now displays an additional corporate logo.

To help System Administrators, integrators and developers understand the power of this new feature we have created an example stylesheet.

This style sheet override can be downloaded from the Sage CRM Community.

The System Administration Guide also explains how icon sets can be changed and new entirely new Themes can be designed for Sage CRM.

  • Hi Thomas

We have not lost this in Sage CRM 2023 R1.  It is a matter of choice whether you go with the old Cylinder style or the new Rectangle style.  The system administrator controls this for the customer under Administration → System → System Behaviour

  • Thank you for highlighting these exciting new capabilities. Personally though, I see the removal of dynamic pipeline segmentation as a step backward.

Previously, I used custom JavaScript to make the segment sizes proportionally reflect the number of opportunities in each stage. This provided an intuitive, visual representation of the sales funnel. Without this dynamic segmentation, the pipeline loses some of its visual impact and effectiveness in my view.

I'd be happy to share my JavaScript code via PM with anyone interested in restoring this useful functionality. Dynamic pipeline visualization is a simple yet powerful feature that really enhances the user experience. I'm hopeful it may be incorporated again in future releases, as it provides clear added value. Please feel free to reach out if you'd like my custom script to implement segmented pipelines again.
