Navigating Sage CRM in Different Browsers

1 minute read time.

Sage CRM allows users to choose which browser they use.

This article will introduce you to some of the the differences in keyboard navigation within different browsers that a user may notice.

This article will compare Internet Explorer and Firefox and so I assume that you have already downloaded and installed Firefox and Internet Explorer. I also assume that you have access to a default install of the demo system loaded with the standard demo data. I am only using Internet Explorer and Firefox because Chrome works with Hot Keys in the same way as Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer

It is worth reminding ourselves how users can navigate with the keyboard in Internet Explorer.

If we start Internet Explorer and log on to CRM as a user like Susan Maye (Mayes) we can navigate to a company screen like 'Eurolandia'.

  • To switch the Company Summary Screen into Edit mode we can using the Hot Key [Alt]+[H].
  • To save the record we can then use the Hot Key [Alt]+[S].
  • And if we want to run the Summary Report for the Company we do so by using the Hot Key [Alt]+[R].

Firefox

If you now start up Firefox and like before logon as Susan Maye and load up the Summary screen for the company 'Eurolandia' we will find the Hot Keys are different

  • To start to switch the Company Summary screen into Edit mode we can use the Hot Key [Alt]+[Shift]+[H] but this only brings the focus to the button, to complete the switch the user needs to press the [Return] key.
  • To highlight the Save button the Hot Key [Alt]+[Shift]+[S] combination can be used but to actually save the record the [Return] Key then needs to be pressed.
  • And the same pattern is needed to run the Summary Report. The Hot Key [Alt]+[Shift]+[R] will bring the focus to the hyperlink but the report is run only by pressing the [Return] key.
