With earlier versions of Sage X3, when patching Sage X3 instances with Multiple Runtime servers, applying the X3 patch will fail if you have more than one runtime running whilst you are patching.

Before applying an X3 patch you should therefore either:

• Shutdown all additional runtime services before patching
  • OR
• Navigate to Administration> Endpoints> X3 Solutions and edit the page.   Disable all secondary Runtimes, or all but one Runtime, by ticking the "Disabled" column in the Runtime section and save the change

After the patching activity has completed you should then revert the above and restart your additional runtime servers again

If you do not disable secondary or additional Runtimes, the update will fail with the following error message or similar: "The update failed with error: The patch has been canceled"

This behaviour has been resolved, such that multiple runtimes no longer cause this failure, since Version 12 Patch 22
