Improved X3 Session Functionality

2 minute read time.

With 2021 R1 (Version 12 patch level 25) there is a new and improved “Session information” function that gives additional features and the ability to perform more functions from within a single screen.  This replaced the functionality that was previously in three different functions, “Web client sessions”, “Classic Client sessions” and “Reused client sessions”    Subsequent releases 2021 R2 and 2021 R3 have refined some of the facilities to tidy up and resolve some small issues.

 Access via Administration, Usage, Sessions management, Session information

Actions Available:

Enhanced design means you can transfer to other screens signified by underlined data e.g

Session Id    -------->  Web Client Sessions

User Login    -------->  Administration,Users

Host              -------->   Servers,Hosts

Endpoint       -------->  Administration.Endpoints

In addition to the Actions, you can show more detail with the circumflex arrows , detailing each session information further.

This page displays all the X3 sessions that are known from the web server. It should correspond to the list of sessions displayed in the

‘User Monitoring’ screen  (APSADX) for the entire X3 Solutions.

Note:

A very useful feature in a classic page is the ability to now see the Users’ function previously only available in ‘User Monitoring’ as seen in the screen below.

Also note additional actions available in the 'X3 Sessions' tab:-

There is also the ability to toggle between :

‘Licence usage information’ and

‘Session Information’  to obtain detailed badge consumption for your sessions.

Another addition is the ability to review Unknown X3 sessions”.   This screen will display the sessions that are in the APSADX function and not the X3 sessions page. Those sessions should be checked in the APSADX function because they could be ghost sessions, which would likely need to be manually disconnected.

Also a great new feature is “X3 Session Logs”.   There is also enhanced functionality and a new look and feel to this feature which is covered in the Sage City Blog

ncluding the ability to trace at different levels:-

There are other possibilities to explore and find yourself, but a final interesting screen I would like to point out is the “X3 runtimes usage overview” available from the “X3 sessions” Actions button.  This gives a summary of types of connections for each runtime, which can then be drilled into further.

To conclude, I hope you find these new enhancements to the session information very useful and a great addition to the capabilities of the X3 Administrators role.
