I wish to ask if you post a journal in Sage does it automatically send the correction to the relevant accounts in the Main Ledgers?

I was taught in an AAT class that journals were not part of the main ledgers (and therefore not part of the double entry process) however after cross-referencing what I been taught in a classroom I am finding that is not necessarily 100% accurate when it comes to posting transactions/making corrections in a dedicated accounts software program like Sage 50.
