I have downloaded v25.3 ...is it ok to process the Dec payroll after that? You can run the update before or after running the December payroll but you should ensure your payroll is at either Start of Period (SOP) or End of Period (EOP) before running it. N/A
My financial year end is Oct, is it too late to clear balances? Some of your reports will have balances with more than a years worth of figures due to this. Once further periods have been processed it's too late to use the clear wizard, as this would remove values from the new financial year too.  Open the Forgot to clear my financial balances article
When clearing down financial balances, could there be any balances included that should not be cleared down at the year end, e.g. repayment of a staff loan or travel ticket? Reducing balance' deduction types are not automatically cleared down by the system so you can check if your loan/travel ticket falls under that category. If I pay on the 3rd wed of each month how do I set this up for 2023? You set your first pay date when setting up the calendar (the third Wednesday of January) and set your valid pay days as Wednesday only. After that you'll have to review the calendar and manually adjust any periods which do not reflect your pay schedule.  N/A
If I clear down all balances, will it keep % rates employees and employer contributes for their pension? Yes, that's correct, it will keep the rates to be deducted, it's only the balances that are cleared down. N/A
How are holidays and days off dealt with at year end please? On the employees' timesheets you'll need to ensure the correct payments are entered based on whether employees are working, are paid holiday or are owed any other payments. If you'll be on holiday yourself you can process payroll in advance where required. Open the year end help centre
Do your wages have to be at any particular point before you run the update? You should ensure that your payroll is at either Start of Period (SOP) or End of Period (EOP) before running the update. N/A
Is there a need to consolidate monthly and weekly payroll in the year end process As Revenue returns are now communicated through the submissions from Sage Payroll, it is not necessary to create a consolidated payroll. N/A
How do you calculate daily rate for an employee who is paid monthly? Guidance for calculating the daily rate for employees can be found in the government documentation. Open the Government guidance
What if staff work different hours per day? How can you set up SSP? In your software you'll need to enter a daily rate for SSP in for your software to calculate the payment actually due. Where the employee's hours vary, please contact Revenue for guidance on calculating this daily SSP amount. N/A
How do you move an employee from monthly to weekly or quarterly payroll? The software has a 'transfer employee' feature to move employees from one payroll to another. Open the Transferring employees to another payroll article
