Pension Calculation when only SSP ( Not Coronavirus )

SUGGESTED

Hi,

We have been fortunate, I guess, as Sickness has been very rare in our organization.
I have to completely read the " How to " Sage guides whenever SSP comes up.

I have one employee who's pay this period is only SSP, and the calculation seems to be correct with

4 x weeks at the Statutory Rate.

However, when I run this, and remove (zero) the employee's normal hours, the payslip calculates no pension.

I believe we should be contributing the normal pension as though it was on the normal pay ?

With presumably the employee not paying anything, or also maybe the usual amount, in which case it would be deducted from the SSP ?

(This is a straightforward NEST Auto enrolment pension, not salary sacrifice.)

Am I right, that the payslip should show SSP being paid, and the pension payments also, but that is all

that will be on there?

If so, why is there no Pension calculation so far ?

Thank you

    Hey Andrew -
    Thanks for using Sage City

This sounds as if the employee is earning below the threshold for a scheme which uses qualifying earnings, as 4 weeks of SSP would be £383.40, but the lower threshold for deductions would be £520, which is why there are no deductions Slight smile

    I hope this helps!
