VAT submission error

Hi,

I have been trying to send my VAT return but I am continually getting the message 'An error has occurred when communicating with the submission service. Please try again later'.  The details say 'unauthorized'.  My last 3 VAT submissions were done under MTD and have been received.  I phoned HMRC who have confirmed I am set up correctly for MTD and say they can't see any reason why it won't send and to get in touch with Sage. I hope someone is able to help me. Thank you. Lucy

    Hi Lucy,

    Apologies for the delay in coming back to you on this. Can you confirm are you still experiencing this issue? 

    I know recently there were some issues with submissions going through to HMRC due to their servers. It may have been unknowingly affected by this at the time.

    Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes still having issues.  VAT submission still won't send. Have been on to HMRC technical team who say I am signing in correctly etc.. but the problem could be there end, but they seem to have no idea what the problem might be.  I have done all I can.  I have been in touch with them again and they won't put me through to technical team as their computer says they will phone me!!  I have done all I can to prevent me getting a fine for late submission. Ball is really in their court, but if they won't phone and they won't let me phone them............   I was wondering if there is anything else I can try this end, but Sage team couldn't see anything else, my IT chap can't see any reason why the firewall would be getting in the way (PAYE processing goes to HMRC just fine).  I don't know what else I can do. Any bright ideas would be welcome. Thanks. Lucy

    Hi Lucy,

    If you have already spoken to our support team, it would be best to wait to hear back from HMRC. We are limited on what we can do with regards the submissions.

    Can you let us know when HMRC come back if there is anything we can do from our point once they have found what is causing this submission error?
